Letter to the Editor (June 27, 2012) -‘Living with
Epilepsy’ – Peg Whitney
Thanks to everyone who made my June 19th
presentation on ‘Living with Epilepsy’
successful. I appreciate the help and support
from the staff at Harrington Hospital along with
those that attended. It was great that
Mark Aston at the Southbridge News was able to
promote the event in advance with a well written
profile of my experiences with epilepsy. I am
optimistic that this made an impact for not only
those that live with epilepsy but for family
members, friends… and to lessen the fear that some
may have had. Even though that “epilepsy/
“seizures” is still a “stigma” in today’s society, I
am glad this situation is changing for the
better. Let’s continue to move forward and
accept us for who we are versus what condition we
have. This applies for all other disabilities as
well!! All individuals need the support and some
understanding from others that we are human beings
also and put our pants on the same way as everyone
else.
If anyone is interested in further information in
regards to my experiences with epilepsy and how this
may be of help to you, you may certainly contact me
at (508)-764-3762 or send an email to
pegwhitney@charter.net. You may also get in
touch with the Epilepsy Foundation by calling
